Private Lessons:

  • At your home: I come to your home to meet you and your dog. Good for first session(s). This allows me to see the dog in his / her own environment. Training usually starts here.

  • Different locations depending on required training.

Training for Your New Puppy:

Discuss bathroom: elimination commands.

Separation from owner.

How to set up your home for a growing puppy.

Toys/chew toys/ harness/ leash etc needed.

Exposure to lots of objects, bikes, costumes, wheelchairs, walkers, sticks, wigs, balloons (ideally between ages 8 - 15 weeks).

Discuss exposure to people, dogs, animals in general.

Rewiring a Response:

Anything from leash reactivity; separation anxiety; resource guarding; whining; destructive behavior; aggression; accepting a new baby, puppy into the household etc…

Basic Training:

Basic Training is generally done in 7 lessons (over the course of 7 weeks)

  • WATCH ME, YES / NO, COME, SIT, RELEASE (after commands)

  • STAY. In and out of door/ car/ crate.

  • DROP IT / LEAVE IT.

  • Meet and greet. SIT or STAND calmly to be petted.

  • LOOSE LEASH walking and leader walk intro.

  • SIT (extended) and LIE DOWN., OFF

  • LIE DOWN (extended), PLACE. Dog will sit on a specific mat in various locations.

  • HEEL and “LOOSE LEASH Walking.” Learning to punctuate and RELEASE between the two.

  • Learn how to go in and out of door/ car/ crate.

Advanced Training:

  • Tunnel

  • Through

  • Climb

  • Climb with extended stay until released

  • Place with extended stay until released

  • Drop in place

  • Distance commands

  • Longer extended commands with higher level of distraction.

  • …and more, depending on dog’s and owner’s lifestyle/ needs.

Group Leash Walking:

Group lesson to allow clients to practice their dog’s socialization skills with other dogs and people.

Meet and greets.

Group Play (Play Etiquette):

Learning to wait until released.

Even role play

Knowing when to interrupt play

Assessing play mates (and their owners;)

Dogs out in Public Places:

Learning how to introduce your dog into public places such as dog friendly restaurants, pet stores etc.

Fun Training Routines:

Learning a variety of tricks and creating a fun training routine. This forms a deeper connection with your dog by focused work and having fun together. Especially good for working dogs or smart dogs that “need a job”. A great confidence builder.

Public Access for Service Dog:

Helping you prepare your Service dog (or Service dog in Training) for Public Access work. Certain commands need to be in place such as “down, stay”, “under” or “tunnel”, “watch” and “leave it”. Keeping dog focused on you and redirecting easily from possible distractions. A good connection between handler and companion needs to be established first.

Learning how to: “get dressed” if harness is used (recommended).
